Zamfara Assembly To Pass “Anti-Hawking Law” As ZSUBEB Commences Girl-Child Mentorship Training

Zamfara state House of Assembly will soon pass “anti-hawking” law as part of its effort aimed at supporting the enhancement of girl-child education in the state.

This was disclosed by the member state House of Assembly representing Maru North Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma during the opening ceremony of “Girl for Girl and He for She” mentorship training organized by Zamfara SUBEB together with the UNICEF in Gusau on Thursday.

The lawmaker said, the house would continue to work hand in hand with all critical stakeholders in ensuring that girl-child education has been accorded the prominent attention it deserved.

He noted that the bill has already scaled through first and second readings, noting that soonest it would be passed to law by the members of the State House of Assembly.

On his part, the UNICEF Focal Person for ZSUBEB Muzamil Ibrahim said participants for the training were selected from six local government areas under the GEP 3 program and the objective was to train them as future trainers.

Muzamil explain that,15 male teachers were selected and train as mentors and 45 females teachers would also receive their training as G4G mentors, saying at the end they are expected to mentor young girls on the basic leadership skills.
