Cash Grant: SBY Foundation Empowers 520 Women In Zamfara

As part of the determined efforts of the Zamfara state governor, Hon (Dr) Bello Muhammad (Matawallen Maradun) to touch the lives of the women positively, the SBY NA DODO Foundation has today empowered 520 women with N5,000 each to boost their small-scale businesses.

The gesture was to ensure that the privileged women engage in small scale businesses at their door steps so as to reduce the socio-economic hardship being faced.

The commissioner of finance, honourable Sufyan Bashir Yuguda in his inaugural speech said that all the beneficiaries were selected to benefit from the gesture after they were screened by a committee set up to verify their various trades as well as their needs.

The aims of the programme, he explained, was to support the executive governor in his commitment for ensuring that women become self-reliant in the state. He also charged beneficiaries to be attentive with the hope that they will make good use of the opportunity to increase their income and contribute towards improving their living standard.”

The honourable commissioner has equally used the occasion and distributed two hundred thousands cash (N200,000) to each member of his social media team.

Earlier speaking, Senator representing Zamfara central, honourable Hassan Muhammad Nasiha, applauded and appreciated the commissioner for emulating the empowerment program initiated by the state governor, according to him, “every son needs to inherit his father, likewise, every father need to proud of his son, as we all known, the empowerment programmes started in the state after the inception of the current administration, which were glaringly conducted through the office of the first lady, Hajiya Aisha Bello Matawalle”.

He therefore thanked Alhaji Sifiyanu Bashir Yuguda for inheriting the empowerment program initiated by his father, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun due to his kindness to the voiceless women, downtrodden, poor and vulnerable group of people. He prayed Allah (s.w.a) to guide and bless the commissioner and finally urged the beneficiaries to make use of what they benefited appropriately for them to become self reliance and have means of survival.

The special guest of honour at the event, Zamfara state first lady, Hajiya A’isha Bello Matawalle, represented by her speacial adviser, Hajiya Fatima Musa, thanked the almighty Allah for witnessing another empowerment programe by the honourable commissioner, Alhaji Sifyanu Bashir Yuguda, stressed that the empowerment in the state is a continues and non stop program, for it was part of the line-up of empowerment programmes that the state government has been doing for years, urging the beneficiaries to utilize the resources availed to them accordingly.

On their part, some of the beneficiaries that receive the gesture, appreciated the SBY Foundation for the support and promised to utilize the funds appropriately.

“I received N5,000 from this great foundation and am elated to be part of this. The money will help me in many ways with regards to my family. I really appreciate them and I hope other wealthy individuals and groups will copy from them,” said Maryam Musa, one of the beneficiaries.

Amina Usman, one of the beneficiaries also expressed her delight for receiving the gesture and prayed for the progress of the foundation, its entire members and state government.
