Sani Suleiman, a 14-year-old bandit has been arrested by operatives of the Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The teenager, said to be a rapist and one of the foot soldiers of bandit kingpin Bello Turji, was arrested in Kadage village, in Moriki Emirate, Zurmi Local Government Area.
After his arrest, he confessed that he participated in cattle rustling and kidnapping activities.
Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, the commandant, Mr A.A. Sparks said investigation revealed that the teenager was trained by one Salihu Gang at Sububu forest on weapon handling.
“Salihu Gang is said to be a foot soldier of a notorious armed bandit known as Turji that has been terrorizing the entire northwest zone,” Sparks said.
Accordingly to him, the boy confessed that he had been raping women brought to their camps, pointing out that investigation was still on and that the boy would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation was completed.
He assured that anyone caught in any form of criminal activity would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
The commandant further stated that the Corps have also arrested 10 illegal miners at Matuzgi village, in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of the State suspected to be bandits operating in the State.
“The men of the Corps raided the illegal mining site in the early hours of Wednesday, 9th February, 2022, where about 9 bags of raw precious stones were confiscated by the Corps special strike force and brought to the command,” he said.
