AIG Visits Zamfara, Assures Full Support In Fight Against Terrorism

His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Hon Dr Bello Mohammed MON Matawallen Maradun, Barden Hausa, Shettiman Sokoto yesterday received the newly posted Assistant lnspector General of Police, incharged of zone 10 Sokoto, AIG Sani Bello where he assured of his administation’s determination to work with the security agencies to end the menace of banditry in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the state Governor, Jamilu Ilyasu Birnin Magaji and made available to the Spectacles on Saturday, 19th February, 2022

Governor Bello Matawalle who thanked the AIG for the familiarisation visit to Zamfara State Government and other police formations in the state, informed the new AIG that he has a lot of challenges in confronting the fight against banditry in Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi States, as the zone is the most crisis ridden area and epic centre of banditry cases.

Governor Bello Matawalle called on the Nigerian police Force to provide enough logistics that include operational vehicles, gadgets, fighting trucks and other support to Zamfara State.

Matawallen Maradun who briefed the new AIG on the scenario behind the emergence of armed banditry and how his administation inherited it from the previous administration in the state, said his administration is making frantic efforts to end the menace of banditry and other criminal activities with the support of security agencies.

He commended the Federal Government and President Muhammadu Buhari for the committement in tackling the monster of terrorism and in tackling insecurity in the country.

Earlier, the Assistant lnspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 10 Sokoto, AIG Sani Bello said he was in Zamfara State to pay a courtesy visit on the Governor and to inform him of his new assignment as the new AIG Zone 10, comprising Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.

The AIG said he has also familiarized himself with police formations in the state and encouraged men and officers in the discharge of their assignment.

The visit was attended by the speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly, Right Hon Nasiru Muazu Magarya, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, former state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Muktar Ahmed Anka, Commissioner of Police Zamfara State, CP Ayuba El-kana, some members of the State Executive Council, senior Government officials and other senior police officers.
