Gets New Automotive Park in ZamfaraThe Zamfara State Executive Governor, Honourable (Dr) Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON, FSESN (Shattiman Sokoto), has today in Abuja inspected a range of dual-fuel natural gas-powered buses intended to be used to ease and improve the State Mass Transit System.
The Governor said his administration is determined to improve the Mass Transit system in the State in order to ease movements of people from Zamfara to other states in the country given the fact that the system he inherited has left the Mass Transit system to grapple with old buses that have no guarantee of meeting up with commuters’ demands.
Governor Matawalle also explained that the State will start with a pilot scheme of 200 buses and also get a new Automotive Park in the State where the vehicles will be assembled. This according to the Governor will create more job opportunities for the teeming populace of young abled indigenes in the State.
While conducting the Governor round during the inspection together with the Honourable Commissioner Commerce Honourable Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani, the representative of the Managing Director of OMAA Motors Mr Chinedu Oguegbu assured the Governor that the buses can be assembled in the State adding that they can also be used as passenger buses for inter-states commuter services.
Furthermore, the buses can be used for school shuttle and other commercial transportation.
Other uses of the buses include but are not limited to cargo vans for moving farm produce in rural areas, ambulances for critical life care in hospitals and health centres across the state, for logistics or utility purposes, and for various needs of Small and Medium Enterprises. They can also be used in large or multinationals, corporate and government Ministries and agencies.
