THE BAN IMPOSED BY THE STATE GOVERNMENT ON TRANSACTIONS OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS BY ROAD SIDE IS STILL ENFORCED.
Reinforcement of the ban of transactions with all roadside petroleum products dealers trooping into filling stations using jerrycans to buy the commodity in especially Gusau town is still enforced.
The reminder followed an outcry against the multiplication of the act by those popularly known as ‘Yan ‘Bun’burutu and some individuals and groups who prevail on their position of authority or influence to a use the law.
Participants at a meeting summoned today by the State Government Task Force Committee for Monitoring Distribution and Sale of Petroleum Products with key stakeholders expressed their displeasure over the unpleasant situation.
It was learnt that the act increased the current fuel scarcity in the state, as the commodity is atime diverted at the detriment of innocent buyers.
However, the Manager NNOC Gusau Depot Abdul-Rahman AM, the Vice-Chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Alh Tafa Nasarawa, representative of Detailed Project Report (DPR) Unit, and the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) Alh Shu’aibu Muhammed Liba have all reiterated their unflinching support and cooperation towards alleviating the undue shortage of the commodity and its exorbitant price hike.
All the parties concerned have affirmed the concensus reached and complied with the State Government demand for taking appropriate measures to sanitize the ugly situation.
The State Task Force Committee for Monitoring Distribution and Sale of Petroleum Products led by Barrister Abdulrashid Haruna had all it’s members and the Secretary Yusuf Abubakar Bisu in attendance.
Meanwhile, the Committee is set to conduct an inspection visits to all filling stations in Gusau on Monday to ascertain the level of compliance to two hundred and thirty naira pump price and smooth service to commuters.
