Zamfara State Government has asked all categories of civil servants and all political appointees wishing to contest for elective positions in the 2023 general elections to resign from today Thursday 17th march 2022.
The directives followed the decision on the amended electorol act
The state government issued the directives in a statement signed the chief Press Secretary to the state Governor, Jamilu Iliyasu Birnin Magaji, a copy of which was made available to the Spectacles on Thursday 17th March 2022.
The statement read, “in compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022…all civil servants at the state and local government levels wishing to contest elective positions in the forthcoming 2023 general elections are hereby advised to resign their positions effective from 17th March, 2022 by midnight.
“By section 84(10) no political appointee shall be a voting delegate or shall be voted for at all levels of the political party conventions or congress, hence the need for all interested public servants and political appointees to resign inlines with the provision of the amended electorol act”.
To this end, His Excellency The Executive Governor of Zamfara State Hon Dr Bello Mohammed MON Matawallen Maradun, Barden Hausa, Shettiman Sokoto directed all interested workers and public office holders to ensure compliance.
