The Management of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has relocated to the newly constructed Senate Building located at main campus of the University.
The storey building which houses key offices in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Registry and Bursary Departments, was facilitated by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to address the shortage of office accommodation for staff of the University.
From a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Jamilu M. Magaji, a copy of which was made available to the Spectacles on Saturday, 2hd April, 2022.
The new edifice which provides for befitting Senate and Council Chambers, was blessed by the Governing Council under the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Funmi Togonu-Bickersteth.
Inspecting the facility after the 22nd Council meeting, the Chairperson alongside other Council members extolled the Vice Chancellor and his Management team for the wonderful achievement. The development also received encomiums from members of staff and students of the University.
In the light of this, Vice Chancellor, Prof. BB Shehu expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Management, Staff and students for the support and cooperation to his administration. He implored the University community to maximally contribute to the development of the institution.
It could be recalled that Federal University Birnin Kebbi was established on 18th February, 2013 by the Federal Government of Nigeria, alongside those of Gusau and Gashua.
Academic activities began in November, 2014 for the 2014/2015 Academic Session with a students’ population of 507 and academic staff strength of 102. Accordingly, maiden Matriculation took place on 5th March, 2015 with a total of 507 undergraduates sworn-in.
The University currently has five Faculties and a College namely; Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Education and College of Health Sciences. At present, the University offers a total of thirty seven (37) Undergraduate Programmes. In addition, the University is billed to commence twenty (20) Post Graduate Programmes in 2022.
The institution now operates on three campuses; the Main Campus, Take-off Site and College of Health Sciences.
