Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun) has inaugurated the issuance of newly introduced digital land certification across the state.
The new order replaces the previous method of issuing certificate of occupancy practiced in the past and makes it mandatory for all land title owners to re-certify.
From a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, media and Communications, Zailani Bappa and made available to the Spectacles on Wednesday, 6th April, 2022.
Governor Matawalle said that the measure has become necessary for many reasons which border on accuracy, security and easy monitoring.
He said the new order will eliminate shady deals in land ownership, development and transfer as well as provide a data base for all land owners in the state which will greatly reduce criminal activities in the state.
“The re-certification of all land titles will also assist in the current fight against banditry and sundry crimes, as owners of all land titles would now have their records available in a secured database; as well as meet the requirements of the World Bank’s States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability on property indexing”, Governor Matawalle noted.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Zamfara Geographical and Information Systems (ZAGIS), Alhaji Yahaya Musa Waziri, commended Governor Matawalle for his digital consciousness and assured that the present system will secure land ownership and transaction with utmost security, accuracy and proper information at the disposal of Government.
