IGP Doles Out N32M To Families Of “Fallen Heroes” In Zamfara

In line with the welfare commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to officers and men of the Force, a cheque of Thirty Million, Two Hundred and Ten Thousand, Two Hundred and Eighty-nine Naira, Thirty-two Kobo (N30, 210, 289. 32K) has been presented to the next-of-kin of eight deceased officers of the Zamfara State Police Command.

At the presentation, held on behalf of the IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, Zamfara State Police Commissioner, Ayuba N. Elkanah, described the gesture as timely, adding that it would go a long way in alleviating the suffering being faced by families of the deceased police officers.

Elkanah noted that the command had received similar incentives from the IGP nine times in the last 10 months.

The CP, while appreciating the IGP for his high level of sensitivity to families of the “fallen heroes”, called for judicious spending of the money, assuring the IGP that officers and men of the Command would continue to put in their best, “to ensure more commitments and hard work in the discharge of their duty for sustained peace, security and safety of Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole”.

In a statement e-signed by the command’s spokesman (PPRO), SP Mohammed Shehu, he said, “this gesture, according to the Commissioner of Police, will serve as a morale booster to serving members of the Force, in order to continue to discharge their duty effectively”.

The PPRO said: “One of the benefiting families, Fatima Murtala Baffa, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the Inspector General of Police for the gesture and promised to use the money judiciously”.

The cheque presentation held on 8th June 2022, had members of the command management team and other heads of departments in attendance.
