Bandits Kill Zamfara Polytechnic Staff After Collecting N5m Ransom

The abductors of Sanusi Halilu Kaura, the Students Affairs Officer of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara in Zamfara State has killed him despite collecting N5 million ransom from his family.

The victim was abducted with other government officials on their way to Abuja to attend a pre NYSC mobilization workshop some weeks ago.

The victim ‘s cousin, Muhammad Iliyasu, who amid tears told journalists, how Kaura was murdered, said the “bandits informed the family that they have killed him despite collecting ransom form us. They even refused to give us the corpse for proper burial.”

Also, a lecturer at the Sanusi Halilu Kaura, the Students Affairs Officer of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara, has killed him despite collecting N5 million ransom from his family.

The victim ‘s cousin, Muhammad Iliyasu, said a lecture in the Mass Communication Department of the polytechnic, confirmed that Kaura had been killed by the bandits.

Pleading not to be named, he said: “They killed him on Sunday because when we were negotiating with them, they used to give him the phone so that he could speak to us but for two days, even when we assured them that we were bringing the money, they didn’t give him the phone.

“I knew something bad had happened because they completely stopped even talking about him for two days but they kept asking us to bring the money.

“The ransom they demanded was gathered by staff of the institutions, family members and his friends. And a staff of the polytechnic and two of the deceased family members from Kaura Namoda took the ransom to the bandits.

“When I spoke with those, whoot the ransom to the bandits, they informed me that they reached Birnin Gwari.

“They slept there on Tuesday and waited for hours before the bandits called them but still they didn’t let them speak with him but they asked them to take the money into the bush and go back to Birnin Gwari and wait for him.

“But the bandits, after making them to wait for more than seven hours, they called to inform them that they have killed Kaura two days ago.”
