The call was made by the State Deputy Governor His Excellency Senator Dr Hassan Muhammad (Jarman Gussu) while attending the end-of-term activities of the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Tudun Wada, Gusau.
This was contained in a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital by the Deputy Governor’s Director of Press Affairs, Babangida Umar Zurmi.
According to the statement, the Deputy Governor said the present administration of Governor Bello Matawallen Maradun is giving the required attention needed by the education sector in the State despite non chalant attitude being demonstrated by some critical stakeholders and other people in the society especially in the area of supporting the government’s best efforts in providing quality education to all children at all levels.
He, therefore, called on parents and other well meaning citizens to consider educational development as duty binding not only on the government. Every one has a role to play in ensuring the provisions of good and quality education as well as the protection of schools’ structures and equipments for sustainable development.
Senator Hassan Muhammad used the medium on behalf of the State Governor and commended the foresight of the School management in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the State female Education Board, especially the principal for organising a series of colourful activities marking the end of the academic session.
Jarman Gussu was highly impressed with the performance of the students at the quiz competition, debates, essay writing, reading comprehension and match-pass among many other academic activities.
In a response to major problems of the school identified by the principal, the Deputy Governor instantly approved the expansion and completion of the school mosque, provision of a motorised borehole towards alleviating the acute shortage of portable drinking water to students, and he also assured them of the State Government’s readiness to employ security for the protection of the already installed government properties in all secondary schools in the State.
Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha Jarman Gusau gave a cash price of one hundred thousand naira to the winner of the first position, sixty thousand naira to the second position, forty thousand naira to the third position, thirty thousand naira to the fourth position and twenty thousand naira to the fifth position.
Gabdon Talatar Mafara was accompanied at the occasion by some members of the State Executive Council, Special Advisers, Directors General, and officials of the State Female Education Board, among many other personalities.
