The troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), a component of the military, have again neutralized 11 terrorists, destroying their camps and recovering many sophisticated weapons and other items during their operations in Sokoto and Zamfara States.
Reliable military sources said the attacks were conducted in Kamarawa, Kagara, Dan-gwandi, Zango, Kamarawa, Tseika, Bafarawa, Mallamawa, Makwa Ruwa and other communities of Shinkafi and Isah local government areas of Zamfara and Sokoto States.
According to GOC 8 Div, Major General Mutkut and Commander 1 Brigade Brig. Gen Ahmed, during confidence building patrol, the Joint Task Force troops destroyed many bandits’ camps, neutralized 11 terrorists, and recovered 19 motorcycles, one RPG7 gun, one PKT magazine, three AK-47 rifles and 1 smoke gun.
According to the sources, other items recovered include 47 rounds of PKT machine gun, 62 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and nine smoke canisters.
Speaking further, the military sources said the troops could not allow the bandits freedom of movement and action along Maradun – Jihinya Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
DAILY POST reports that since the assumption of duty by the new General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto, Major General Mutkut and the recent redeployment of Commander 1 Brigade/Joint Task Force Northwest of Operation Hadarin Daji, Brigadier General S Ahmed, troops have intensified the onslaught against the marauding bandits.
