Ayoung man identified as Ibrahim Abubakar Rabah has been reportedly killed by a group of terrorists in Sokoto after collecting a ransom of N2 million from his family for his release.
This was confirmed to SaharaReporters by one of his friends in a telephone conversation on Thursday morning.
Ibrahim, a 2018 graduate of microbiology from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, was reportedly kidnapped in his home town in the Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State a few weeks ago.
The kidnappers later told his family to pay millions of naira to secure his release from their den. After a series of negotiations with the terrorists, the family agreed to pay N2 million.
But instead of freeing him after the payment of the ransom, the terrorists killed their hostage.
One of his friends who took to social media to mourn him is Muhammed Ahmed Salame.
He wrote, “Innalillahi wa Inna illaihiraji’un! A friend also a secondary school class mate in person of IBRAHIM ABUBAKAR RABAH who was kidnapped few weeks ago in his home town RABAH LGA was killed today by the bandits after paying them a huge amount of money as ransom. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him jannatul firdausi, Amin.”
“Ibrahim Abubakar Rabah was killed by bandits after given 2 million naira ransom. He graduated from microbiology department UDUS 2018. MAY HE REST IN JANNATUL FIRDAUSI AMIN YA ALLAH,” another friend, Abdullahi Zubairu Usman said.
When SaharaReporters contacted the state police command spokesperson, Sanusi Abubakar to get his reaction to the incident, he said the force had not been briefed about it. But he promised to personally verify it and investigate the matter.
