Adamawa: Fintiri Maintains Lead As INEC Suspends Collation Of Results

Incumbent Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is leading other candidates in Saturday’s Adamawa State governorship election results announced so far.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the March 18 election inconclusive and fixed Saturday, April 15, for a supplementary poll.

However, in the results of 10 of 20 LGAs supplementary elections so far declared by INEC, Fintiri has won seven, leaving Binani with three.

PDP won in Guyuk, Jada, Gombi, Shelleng, Ganye, Demsa and Lamurde LGAs of the State, while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aishatu Dahiru Binani, won Mayo-Belwa, Maiha and Mubi-North LGAs.

Results from 10 more LGAs were being awaited as the collation officers announced a break till 10am on Sunday, for the continuation of the collation.

Fintiri had polled 421,524 votes in the March 18 governorship election against Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani’s 390,275 before the Commission declared the poll inconclusive.
