JUST IN: Terrorists Release 70 Kidnapped Wanzamai Children

Seventy out of eighty five abducted children from Wanzamai Village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State have regained their freedom after the payment of 6.5 million naira ransom to their abductors.

The victims were released on Friday night after spending 21 days in the custody of the terrorists, although the police authorities are yet to confirm the development.

A resident of the troubled village told newsmen the abductors released seventy of their captives killed two and kept others in their den.

The freed children were brought to the village in vehicles straight to a private hospital for medical screening as many of them could not walk properly after their ordeal with the kidnappers.

Recalled that on April 7, about eighty five children who went to the bush to pick firewood, were kidnapped by terrorists in Wanzamai community of Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State.

The terrorists had earlier made a demand of N50 million for the kidnapped victims to regain their freedom.

After a series of negotiations, the bandits reduced the ransom to N20,000 for each victim as they came to understand that, they are all from poor families.

Eighty five persons were initially abducted but one of the victims escaped leaving eighty four.
