The new leader of a terrorist group in Zamfara ordered the men of six villages to report to his farm and clear it ahead of the new planting season, or face violent reprisals. Other villages that paid homage were exempt.

The Spectacles gathered that there is currently no permanent presence of Nigerian security operatives in Sumke, Kawaye and over a hundred other communities in the region. They attend the villages in reaction to attacks, but have not got any permanent bases in the area.
This has enabled the terrorists to launch attacks on farmers in various villages and hamlets in Anka, Bukuyum and Gummi LGA.
The change in leadership slowed the rate of attacks, residents told HumAngle.
They fear that now a new leader is in place the attacks will increase again.
Another terrorist leader operating in Bukuyum LGA made similar demands in 2022 when he conscripted 240 farmers to work as farmhands.
