The Zamfara State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is gearing up for the 7th United Nations Global Road Safety Week. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of road safety and encourage changes that will reduce the number of road accidents in Nigeria.
The biennial campaign brings together individuals, governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders from across the world to discuss best practices for road usage. This year’s theme is “Sustainable Transport,” as announced by the Sector Commander for Zamfara State, Iro Danladi.
In a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, by the Command’s Public Education Officer Route Commander, Yasir Shehu, Danladi highlighted the activities that the FRSC is planning for the week. These will include a press conference, a workshop for stakeholders, hospital visitations, Mosque and Church advocacies, and more. The activities seek to bring together road users and other stakeholders in the country.
The FRSC has been at the forefront of promoting road safety in Nigeria and has taken major steps towards reducing the number of road accidents. The agency has been applauded for its efforts in implementing new measures to enhance safety on the roads.
As we mark the 7th United Nations Global Road Safety Week, it is crucial that all road users take responsibility for their safety and the safety of others. Let us all make a conscious effort to use the roads responsibly and ensure that we arrive at our destinations safely.
