The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has assured that all the 450 housing units allocated to civil servants and the plots of lands allocated to some people in the State must be revoked when it comes on board.
This was disclosed by the State chairman of the party, Hon. Mukhtar Lugga in a chart with newsmen in Gusau, the State capital.
According to the party chairman, the allocations were not justified because they were done very close to the 2023 general election.
“Where was the Governor for the past four years that he could not allocate the housing units to civil servants and the plots of lands to unions, associations and organizations until close to the election periods”, he queried.
Lugga further said that it was politically motivated, saying that anybody who benefited from the allocations should not think that they had gained from the State government as they would be revoked.
“We are revoking the allocations because they were illegally allocated as it is believed that the Governor allocated the housing units and lands to pacify the civil servants, unions, associations and organizations to vote for the APC to retain power in the State,” he noted.
Recall that in January, 2023, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle allocated 450 housing units to civil servants in the State through the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and announced allocation of lands to unions and associations.
In early February this year, the State government constituted a land allocation committee which the chairman of the State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Sani Haliru served as the secretary.
