Zamfara NSCDC Rejects ₦100k Bribe, Arrests 9 Over Water Chemical Seizure

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested nine suspects and is hunting for three others who are at large.

Addressing newsmen at the state command of the corps, the commandant, Muhammad Bello Mu’azu, said that three people brought ₦100,000 bribe to ‘kill’ the matter.

“I did not reject the money but asked my officers to collect it for evidence, which I am displaying to you at this briefing,” he added.

Speaking further, Mu’azu explained that the case, with Reference No. CR/F/28/2023, has been transferred to the Upper Shari’a Court 1, Gusau, saying that the court adjourned until May 24, 2023.

Mu’azu further stated that the drums of water chemicals intercepted were 70 and not 75 drums as earlier stated, pointing out that each of the drums cost ₦85,000 according to a market survey.

Continuing, the commandant said the waybill presented by the driver of the vehicle that conveyed the 70 drums of chemicals was fake.

He said that the court ordered that the vehicle and other exhibits be kept in the corps’ custody until May 24th, when the court will hear the case.
