A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna has ordered that Adamu Isah receive eight strokes of the cane for stealing ten live chickens.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, cautioned Isah to refrain from criminal activities and to exhibit good behavior in the future.
Isah pleaded guilty to the charges of criminal trespass and theft, expressing remorse and requesting leniency from the court.
He faced a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, trespass, and theft.
According to the prosecutor, Chidi Leo, the incident was reported by Sani Rabiu at the Gabasawa Police Station on May 13.
Leo explained that Isah, in collaboration with two other individuals who remain at large, conspired to steal ten live chickens from a poultry farm in Kawo.
Isah was apprehended while attempting to escape with the stolen chickens in a bag.
The prosecutor cited the violation of sections 308, 233, and 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017, in presenting the case.
