Zamfara Concern Citizen Urges NCCE, Minister to Call FCET Gusau to Order

Zamfara State Indigenes has called on minister of education and the National Commission for Colleges of Education-NCCE, to call the FCET governing board and Acting Provost to order.

This is contained in an open letter to the office of the minister of education and copied to the permanent secretary federal ministry of education and Chairman, National Commission for Colleges of Education which was signed and made available to newsmen in Gusau by the Chairman of the association, Mohammed Idris Kaura.

He appealed to the office of the minister of education and NCCE to as a matter of urgency look toward addressing the lingering problem in respect of the appointment of substantive provost of the college.

The group also challenged the governing board of the college for dragging it’s feet on the issue by their deliberate acts to create a situation that will perpetuate the acting provost on the seat.

“The recent event which surprised everyone is the flagrant disrespect of the pending case filed before the Federal High Court Gusau in suit No. FHC/GS/CS/41/2023 in respect of the issue of cancellation of an interview result hold earlier”.

They challenged how the FCET Gusau governing board and Acting Provost Dr. Bello Umar shunned the court order and proceeded to conduct another interview in order to accomplish the mission of the Acting Provost.

The group also called on minister of education to call the FCET governing board and Acting Provost to order and to consider appointing an indigene of the state as provost of the College.

Mohammed Idris said that, FCE (T) Gusau has been in existence for 30 years (1989-2023) but no one from Zamfara State has ever served as substantive provost of the college.
