Malam Abubakar Nakwada: The Optimal Dosage For Policy Direction

Zamfara State is on the cusp of a promising new era as Mallam Abubakar Nakwada popularly known as Abu Gusau and fondly called Shugaba (by friends) assumes the role of Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

With a mere three days having passed since his appointment on May 29, 2023, Abu Gusau brings a breath of fresh air, invaluable experience and a profound commitment to driving positive changes in the state government structure. His outstanding qualifications and impeccable track record positioned him as an exemplary choice for this crucial position.

As a young charismatic undergraduate, his tenure as the President of the Student Union Government at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, showcased remarkable leadership skills, fostering an environment that prioritized the welfare and development of students. His transformative initiatives positively impacted the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible mark on the students community. His kind-hearted personality recorded success in pursuing students demands without impairing relationship with the University Management.

Coincidentally and cognate as it was, he also served as Special Adviser to the Minister of State for Education, where he displayed unwavering dedication to advancing education in Nigeria building from his experience as a University students leader. He played a pivotal role in securing scholarship for numerous youths in the State, availing them opportunities to pursue higher education both within the country and abroad. Abu Gusau further assisted students in securing employment in Abuja, providing them with accommodation and unwavering support during their transition.

Abubakar Nakwada’s commitment to empowerment and inclusivity is further exemplified by his role as the SURE P National Coordinator for Zamfara State. Through skills acquisition programs and comprehensive training initiatives, he empowered individuals with the tools necessary for sustainable livelihood. His efforts have not only lifted countless Zamfara residents out of poverty but have also contributed to the overall socio-economic development of the state.

Furthermore, Nakwada’s expertise extends beyond education and social empowerment. As the Coordinator of V-Mobile, a leading mobile telecommunications company, he harnessed his strategic acumen to drive innovation and spearheaded initiatives that contributed to the growth of the organization.

He attained the peak of his career as a Director in the Federal Civil Service, Nakwada’s ability to navigate dynamic industries with finesse and foresight demonstrates his aptitude for effecting positive changes in challenging environments.

Abu Nakwada’s appointment as the Secretary to the State Government by His Excellency Dr Dauda Lawal signals a new era of transformation for Zamfara State. With an extensive network of contacts and remarkable grassroots mobilization skills, he is poised to be a driving force behind effective governance by assisting Zamfara State government achieve it’s Vision and public policy objectives through the provision of policy advice and guidance. His integrity, charismatic and strategic leadership have garnered the trust and respect of the people he has served.
