Zamfara Police Apprehends Notorious Kidnapper, Female Informant

In a significant breakthrough, the Zamfara State Police Command has successfully apprehended Lawali Danhajiya, a notorious kidnapper who specialized in abducting individuals within the state capital of Gusau.

Also taken into custody was Umma Zubairu, a female informant identified as an associate of the infamous bandit leader known as Dankarami.

Speaking to reporters on Friday evening from the police headquarters in Gusau, ASP Yazid Abubakar, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed that the suspected kidnapper, Danhajiya, had been wreaking havoc in the Saminaka area of Gusau town.

Abubakar stated, “Acting on credible intelligence, the Police Tactical Team attached to Area Command Gusau successfully apprehended the notorious kidnapper, Danhajiya.

During the investigation, Mika’ilu Ibrahim of Saminaka positively identified the suspect as one of the perpetrators who kidnapped him from his residence in March 2023.”

“Another victim, Aina’u Aliyu of the same area, also confirmed the suspect’s involvement in her abduction on June 22, 2023.”

The spokesperson emphasized that the case remains under thorough investigation and assured that the suspect will be brought before the court once the inquiry is concluded.

Furthermore, Abubakar shed light on the arrest of a suspected female informant, Umma Zubairu, aged 35, who was apprehended by the police while the bandits were in the process of planning an attack on a police formation within the state.

He detailed, “Acting on reliable information, officers from the Zurmi Division acted swiftly to prevent an imminent attack on police installations in Zurmi Local Government Area.

This operation led to the arrest of Umma Zubairu, a resident of Rukudawa village in Zurmi Local Government Area, on July 16, 2023, around 0430hrs.”

“During the interrogation, the suspect openly confessed to collaborating with the bandit kingpin Dan Karami as his informant. The suspect will face prosecution in court for her actions.”
