Bandits Attack Zamfara Community Leave Many Dead, Abduct Villagers

A horrifying incident unfolded in Kwatar community, situated near Gidan Zala in the Kotorkoshi district of Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State, as gunmen believed to be terrorists launched a brutal assault.

The attack resulted in multiple casualties and the abduction of numerous villagers.

Sources indicate that the assailants descended upon the community during the early hours of Friday, operating without any intervention from security forces.

Ismaila, a local police officer, shared grim details, revealing that a significant number of villagers lost their lives, while others were forcibly taken captive.

Many survivors managed to escape, though not without suffering various degrees of injuries during the harrowing encounter with the terrorists.

Tragedy struck Ismaila’s own family, as he recounted the loss of his father, elder brother, and sister-in-law, along with fellow villagers who fell victim to the assault.

Another eyewitness, Ya’u Ibrahim, recounted the terror of the attack and highlighted that numerous community members sustained grave injuries while attempting to flee the violence.

Urgent pleas were directed towards the Federal Government, urging the declaration of a state of emergency in Zamfara State.

Such a declaration, residents believe, could provide a semblance of relief from the looming threat of banditry.

Further reports reveal that on the same day, armed bandits unleashed a terrorizing assault near Dangibga village in Tsafe Local Government Area. The exact count of casualties remains undisclosed as of the time this report was compiled.

This publication can assertively state that the region encompassing Tsafe Local Government Area has regrettably transformed into a haven for bandit activities.

Despite our efforts, attempts to elicit a response from the police were unsuccessful. Repeated calls to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazeed Abdulahi, went unanswered.
