JUST IN: Tribunal In Kano Sacks NNPP Lawmaker, Declares Hafiz Kawu Winner

In a recent development, the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Kano has made a significant ruling, declaring Hon. Hafiz Kawu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected member of the House of Representatives for Tarauni Federal Constituency.

The tribunal’s decision was based on a petition filed challenging the initial election results.

The 2023 general elections in Nigeria witnessed intense political contests across various constituencies. Tarauni Federal Constituency, located in Kano State, was one of the areas where the election results faced legal challenges.

Hon. Mukhtar Umar of the NNPP, was initially declared the winner of the election, but his victory was challenged through a petition.

The Election Petitions Tribunal, established to address disputes arising from the electoral process, conducted hearings and other related issues.

The petitioner alleged irregularities, voter suppression, and electoral malpractices that, in their view, affected the credibility of the election results.

During the proceedings, both the petitioner and the respondent presented evidence, witnesses, and legal arguments to support their respective claims.

The tribunal carefully examined the evidence presented and considered relevant legal provisions before arriving at its decision.

After thorough deliberations, the Election Petitions Tribunal in Kano declared Hon. Hafiz Kawu of the APC as the duly elected member of the House of Representatives for Tarauni Federal Constituency.

The tribunal’s decision was based on its assessment of the evidence, legal arguments, and adherence to electoral laws and regulations.
