In a strong affirmation of his administration’s determination, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, reiterated his commitment to putting an end to the scourge of banditry in the state. The governor strongly condemned the recent bandit attack in Bungudu local government area.
Reports indicate that bandits targeted Bungudu town on Sunday night, resulting in the unfortunate loss of one life and the abduction of six individuals.
A statement from the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, conveyed that Governor Lawal paid a visit to Bungudu to express condolences to the Emirate and the local community.
During his visit, Governor Lawal offered reassurances of his administration’s dedication and preparedness to eliminate the menace of banditry.
In the words of the statement: “Governor Dauda Lawal visited the esteemed Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, OFR, at his palace to extend sympathies for the distressing incident of the bandit attack.
The governor, while addressing those present at the Palace, emphatically stated that the era of banditry will soon become a thing of the past across the entire state.”
“Governor Lawal urged the citizens to remain steadfast in their prayers, complementing the government’s resolute efforts to address insecurity. He stressed that security is a collective responsibility, necessitating maximum cooperation from all.”
“The governor expressed his condolences to the grieving family and offered prayers for the safe and swift return of the kidnapped individuals.”
In response, the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, conveyed gratitude to the governor for his visit of condolence. The Emir affirmed that Governor Lawal had demonstrated unwavering commitment since the incident.
“He was kind enough to call me early in the morning to express his condolences and inform me of his directive to security operatives for the prompt rescue of the victims,” stated the traditional ruler.
