Zamfara: Delayed Salary For Primary Teachers, LG Workers Sparks Outcry

In the wake of ongoing financial hardships and mounting pressure on local government workers and primary school teachers in Zamfara state, concerns have emerged over the persistent delay in the disbursement of their salaries under the administration of Dauda Lawal.

Despite the challenging circumstances faced by these essential workers, the Zamfara government has yet to fulfill its obligation to pay their wages, The Spectacles reported.

Questions arise about the efficacy of the advisory team surrounding Dauda Lawal, as their counsel regarding workers’ rights and the dire conditions of those serving in various ministries comes into focus. Is the administration adequately informed about the predicament of these employees, who are vital contributors to the state’s education and governance sectors?

Recent developments further exacerbate the discontent among local government workers and primary school teachers. In a recent disbursement, these employees received only one month’s salary, a far cry from their expectation of three months’ worth.

This shortfall has elicited frustration and resentment, particularly among those already grappling with meager incomes. Many of these workers have been struggling to make ends meet, with some even relying on bank loans to cover essential expenses.

The situation took an alarming turn for those who had taken out loans, either from financial institutions or the general public. Upon receiving their salaries, financial institutions swiftly deducted the outstanding loan amounts, leaving workers with a mere fraction of their expected earnings. Adding to the predicament, news of the partial salary disbursement prompted creditors to aggressively pursue repayment.

This harrowing scenario forced some workers into a state of seclusion or compelled them to leave the state in a bid to escape the mounting debt and creditor pressure.

The ramifications of the delayed and inadequate salary disbursement extend beyond mere financial strain. Morale among local government workers and primary school teachers has been significantly undermined, affecting their overall performance and dedication to their crucial roles within the state.

Urgent intervention is needed to address this pressing issue, ensuring that these essential employees are fairly compensated for their valuable contributions to state progress and development.
