National Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) warned Nigerian community to desist of patronizing drug hawkers and ripening fruits with calcium carbide described the practice as dengerous to the survival of humanity.
The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Mojisola Adeyeye gave the warning at a one day media sensitization against the ugly practice in northeast zone held at the federal secretariat Bauchi
Represented at occasion by Leonard Omokpariola Director chemical evaluation and research of the agency, according to her, the dangerous practice by unscrupulous persons is killing unsuspecting innocent members of the society,
Hence the need to collaborate with the media to creat awareness for members of the public to be cautious and abstain from patronizing those engaged in that business where ever they are located in the country
Other notable speakers during their presentations maintained that with constant direct engagement with many Nigerians the nefarious activities by unpatriotic citizens would be reduce to the bearest minimum
Meanwhile, the state Coodinator also says the Nigerian people should speak out when ever they come across such dangerous people as part of their contribution against the practice
The sensitization gathered many Stakeholders as well as the media from the northeast region as part of efforts and collaboration mechanism to stem the tide of the menace.
However, the agency expressed their dismay over the activities, while affirming that this a clarion call to all Nigerians and sending signal to those practicing that is not going to be business as usual for such ungodly people
Noting that wherever they caught will be dealt with accordingly by the appropriate authority.
