Daniel Bwala, an aide to Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized the President Bola Tinubu administration’s decision to renew the ₦5 billion palliative.
Bwala expressed his disdain for the renewed palliative, highlighting that the organized labour had scrutinized the allocation of the N5 billion to State governments.
According to the calculations made by the organized labour, each individual would receive a mere N1,500 from this palliative.
Taking to Twitter, Bwala remarked, “The organized labour has unveiled the façade of the 5 billion naira allocated by the FGN to States. Initially labeled a palliative, it has now been rebranded as a loan.
Through meticulous calculations, the organized labour has revealed that the purported 5 billion naira boils down to a paltry N1,500 per person. This amount pales in comparison to the current market prices of essential food items. It’s a cycle of senseless repetition.”
The Federal Government’s plan to distribute N5 billion as a palliative to offset the impact of subsidy removal has been met with increasing criticism and skepticism.
