NCM Urges Tinubu To Establish Ministry Of Northern Nigeria Development

The Northern Consensus Movement (NCM) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to establish a Ministry of Northern Nigeria Development, akin to the Ministry for Niger Delta, in order to combat the myriad obstacles hindering progress in the North. Comrade Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu, President of NCM, emphasized the need for this new ministry during a press conference in Kaduna.

He highlighted the region’s various challenges, such as security breaches, insurgency, and clashes between herders and farmers.

Aliyu pointed out that a Ministry for Northern Nigeria Development, akin to the Ministry for Niger Delta in the South-South region, could effectively address the Northern region’s issues in education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and security.

He stressed that despite the region’s political significance, the persistent problems require a more comprehensive and effective approach.

The NCM believes that by critically assessing the socioeconomic challenges faced by the North, the creation of this ministry could rectify the long-standing infrastructural deficits and decades of neglect.

Upon establishment, the ministry would prioritize project implementation in key areas such as education, health, security, agriculture, economy, environment, women, and youth development, as well as skill acquisition management.

In conclusion, the NCM’s proposal for the Ministry of Northern Nigeria Development aims to address the multifaceted challenges impeding progress in the region and pave the way for a more prosperous future.
