Over 150 Million Nigerians Go To Bed With Empty Stomach — PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has highlighted that over 150 million Nigerians are going to bed hungry due to the current bad administration’s policies.

The PDP expressed concern that the country is facing severe challenges under President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released on Monday, the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, emphasized the disconnect between the government and citizens, resulting from hastily implemented policies that have led to hardship, insecurity, and apprehension.

The removal of subsidies and currency fluctuations have led to high living costs, business closures, job losses, poverty, and hunger. This situation has caused a loss of investor confidence and a decline in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The PDP criticized the APC’s palliative program, which provides an average of 1,200 bags of rice per state, calling it fraudulent.

The party also expressed concern over the lack of action on insecurity, particularly the abduction of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

The PDP highlighted the government’s failure to protect citizens despite incidents of violence and kidnapping, including the downing of a military aircraft.

The PDP further noted the decline in life expectancy, citizens’ apprehension, and restricted movement due to fears of violence.

The party criticized the government’s involvement in the conflict in Niger Republic, emphasizing that it poses no threat to Nigeria’s national interest. The PDP urged Nigerians to remain calm, law-abiding, and supportive of each other to work towards a secure and prosperous nation.

If the current challenges are not addressed promptly, the PDP warned of the potential for a serious crisis.
