FG To Revamp N-Power Scheme, Timely Payment Of Beneficiaries – Minister

Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has announced plans to overhaul the N-Power scheme, aiming to accommodate a larger number of beneficiaries and ensure prompt disbursement of stipends.

Edu made this revelation in a statement issued on Sunday by her Special Adviser for Media and Publicity, Mr. Rasheed Zubair, in Abuja.

The Minister acknowledged the challenges faced by N-Power beneficiaries, particularly the delays in receiving their stipends, and assured that steps would be taken to address these issues.

“We are restructuring the program’s approach to expedite stipend payments, expand its reach to include more individuals, and relaunch it with a renewed sense of optimism,” she stated.

Furthermore, the Ministry intends to establish humanitarian hubs in all 774 local government areas across the nation as part of a long-term strategy to combat poverty in Nigeria.

Edu explained that these hubs would offer locally produced goods at more affordable prices for Nigerians.

The statement also outlined the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing its interaction with communities by dispatching staff to collect feedback and implementing digital tracking of relief distributions.

The digital tracking system aims to record the time, location, households, and individuals who receive assistance, ensuring transparency and efficient distribution.

“We are committed to addressing poverty under my leadership through job creation, cash transfers to impoverished Nigerians, collaboration with the Nutrition Department, the promotion of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and providing stimulus support to these businesses,” the statement added.

Edu reassured Nigerians of her dedication to mitigating the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria through swift action.

She concluded by stating, “Nigerians can trust that all existing empowerment schemes within the National Investment Programme will be restructured to better serve a broader audience.”

Edu also emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s substantial economic interventions to meet both immediate and long-term needs, urging Nigerians to have confidence in the process.
