BREAKING: NLC Boycotts FG’s Meeting Regarding Warning Strike

In a significant development, the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has chosen to abstain from the scheduled meeting initiated by Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong. This meeting aimed to prevent the impending two-day warning strike declared by organized labor.

Our correspondent, who is presently on the scene, reports that only the leadership of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), represented by its President, Festus Osifo, attended the meeting, which was originally set for 3 pm but commenced at 5:32 pm.

The meeting is currently in a closed-door session, with the minister requesting that journalists step aside to allow stakeholders to discuss critical matters.

On Friday, the NLC declared a two-day warning strike, set to begin on Tuesday, September 5, in response to the ongoing hardships experienced by Nigerians nationwide.

Notably, The Spectacles had previously reported that Minister Lalong, during a press briefing, clarified that he had not yet met with labor leaders because he had not received sufficient information from the relevant departments.

During the briefing, Minister Lalong earnestly appealed to the leadership of both the TUC and the NLC, urging them to convince their affiliate unions to reconsider their scheduled two-day strike and a planned total shutdown in 21 days.
