Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has issued a call to the 36 state governors across Nigeria, requesting comprehensive reports on the expenditure of the N2 billion palliative funds disbursed by the Federal Government.
In a formal letter dated September 9, 2023, and duly signed by Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP has urged the governors to disclose the identities of beneficiaries and furnish detailed information regarding the provided relief measures.
SERAP emphasized that Nigerians are eagerly awaiting transparency in the utilization of these palliative funds, asserting their right to full disclosure.
The organization asserts that such transparency and accountability measures are essential to combat corruption, as reported by The Spectacles.
The group’s letter concludes with a specific request for the recommended actions to be taken within seven days from the date of receipt or publication.
SERAP has also made it clear that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will compel them to initiate appropriate legal actions against the governors in question.
