In honor of the Eid-ul-Maulid celebration, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed, the Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023, as a public holiday.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made this announcement from Abuja, extending his heartfelt congratulations to all Muslim faithful, both within the nation and abroad, on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Maulid.
In a statement conveyed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, Minister Tunji-Ojo encouraged all Nigerians to embrace the values of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which are profound spiritual principles exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
He specifically called upon the youth of Nigeria to adopt the virtues of hard work and a peaceful demeanor towards all individuals, regardless of their faith, ideology, social standing, or ethnicity.
Minister Tunji-Ojo also urged them to collaborate with President Bola Tinubu’s administration in its endeavors to construct a progressive and admirable nation, one that all citizens can take pride in.
The minister concluded his message by extending warm wishes for a joyous celebration to all Muslim faithful.
