The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, October 2, 2023, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary.
Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, announced the declaration on behalf of Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, in Abuja.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo reassured Nigerians of the government’s unwavering commitment to addressing the country’s challenges, emphasizing that socio-economic and security issues are global, and Nigeria is not exempt.
The minister highlighted the government’s daily efforts to confront these challenges with determination and resources. She stressed that Nigeria’s prominent position on the world stage and its potential for greatness can be realized through unity and collaboration among its people.
She concluded, “Nigeria’s warm hospitality, love, abundant human capital, and the richness of our land undeniably make it the foremost black nation in the world, representing Africa’s pride and a beacon of hope, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR’s Renewed Hope.”
