Kaduna Guber Tribunal Rejects Uba Sani’s Claims
The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal convened in Kaduna has dismissed Uba Sani’s preliminary objection concerning the timeliness of the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Isah Mohammed Ashiru.
Sani, represented by his legal team, contended that the petition was filed beyond the 21-day limit stipulated by the law.
The court confirmed that the petition was indeed submitted on the 10th of April 2023.
Led by Justice Victor Oviawe, the three-man panel subsequently dismissed Sani’s petition, where he stood as the second respondent.
At present, the tribunal is deliberating on another motion presented by the defendants, requesting the court to dismiss the PDP and Ashiru’s petition due to alleged abandonment.
Additionally, the tribunal dismissed another preliminary objection raised by Sani and the APC, who are the second and third respondents, claiming that the petitioners had abandoned their case.
During the virtual judgment delivery, the tribunal dismissed this motion as well.
The focus of the tribunal now shifts towards examining the core aspects of the petition.
