Suspect Arrested In Connection Of 1996 Tupac Shakur Shooting Death

An arrest has been made in Las Vegas in connection with the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, according to a law enforcement source.

The source, with knowledge of the investigation, confirms that the man arrested on Friday morning is Duane Keith Davis, also known as “Keffe D.” His wife’s Henderson home was searched in July as part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting.

Officials from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department are scheduled to hold a news conference later on Friday, as mentioned by the source.

Tupac Shakur was fatally shot while leaving a boxing match on the Las Vegas Strip. His untimely death, at the age of 25, has been the subject of conspiracy theories and a decades-long investigation.

Davis has consistently placed himself at the scene of the crime, claiming that he was in the front seat of the white Cadillac that pulled up next to Shakur’s car when shots were fired from the back seat, resulting in the musician’s death. Shakur was shot four times and passed away six days later.

During the search of Davis’ wife’s home in July, law enforcement authorities seized a copy of Davis’ memoir, in which he detailed street gang life and the murder of Shakur. In the memoir, Davis portrays himself as one of only two living witnesses to Shakur’s shooting, with the other being Marion ‘Suge’ Knight, the former CEO of Death Row Records, who is currently serving time in prison for manslaughter in an unrelated case.

When asked who among the four men in the car was responsible for pulling the trigger, Davis responded, “Going to keep it for the code of the streets. It just came from the backseat, bro.”

Tupac’s stepbrother, Mopreme Shakur, who is also a rapper, expressed mixed feelings about Davis’ arrest. “We have endured decades of pain. They have known about this guy, who has been talking for years,” he said. “So why now? For us, this is not over. We want to know why and if there were any accomplices.”
