Don’t Snoop Through Your Spouse’s Phones, Advises Kwankwaso At Kano Mass Wedding

Former Kano State governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, shared valuable advice with over 1,500 couples who participated in a mass wedding in the state on Friday. He emphasized the importance of not invading their spouses’ privacy by checking their phones, stating that this practice could help prevent marriage conflicts and breakups.

The event took place at the Open Theatre in Kano Government House and was organized by the Kano State Government, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). On Friday, Mr. Kwankwaso and Governor Abba Yusuf served as trustees for the newlywed couples during the simultaneous mass wedding across the state’s 44 local government areas.

While originally 1,800 couples were scheduled to be joined in matrimony, around 200 couples were unable to participate due to health reasons. During the reception for the couples on Saturday, Mr. Kwankwaso, who also serves as the NNPP National leader, stressed that snooping into a partner’s phone is a leading cause of marriage breakdown and advised against it.

He mentioned that couples had received advice from various sources, including religious leaders, parents, relatives, and businesspeople, on how to maintain a harmonious marriage. However, he emphasized that avoiding the intrusion into a spouse’s phone is crucial for a successful marriage.

Mr. Kwankwaso commended Governor Yusuf for his dedication to making the mass wedding a reality. He also acknowledged the administration’s commitment to sponsoring over 600 students to universities abroad with an investment of over N700 million. He urged the people of Kano state to support Governor Yusuf’s administration.

Governor Yusuf explained that the state government took full responsibility for the mass wedding, covering dowries, providing furniture, wedding food supplies, and offering a N20,000 grant to brides to kickstart small-scale businesses in their matrimonial homes. He encouraged the couples to live in accordance with Islamic teachings.

The mass wedding beneficiaries were selected from all 44 local government areas and 484 wards of the state, with at least 30 couples chosen from each local government area.

Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of the Kano Hisbah Board, revealed that around 1,500 couples celebrated their weddings on Friday. However, 264 couples originally scheduled for the event had to postpone due to health concerns and were undergoing medical treatment. Once they complete their treatment, a new wedding date will be announced.

Mr. Daurawa commended the state government for the transparent and thorough process of selecting couples and prayed for the newlyweds to have a harmonious and enduring marriage, emphasizing the importance of fearing God in their relationships.”
