“I Inherited Empty Treasury From Tambuwal,” Says Sokoto Governor

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has revealed that he faced a challenging financial situation when he assumed office, inheriting an empty treasury from his predecessor, Aminu Tambuwal.

He explained that not a single financial document was handed over to his administration. Aliyu made this statement during a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, on Thursday.

Responding to a query about how his administration managed to execute 100 projects within its first 100 days in office, Aliyu shared that they had to make significant sacrifices to turn the situation around. He emphasized their success in transforming the state’s economic condition in the past 100 days.

Aliyu commended the harmonious relationship between the state government and the legislature, attributing it to their shared leadership under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, guided by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

Furthermore, Aliyu expressed his gratitude to the Green Chamber’s leadership for sending a strong delegation to offer condolences to the state government and its people following the passing of their colleague, Jelani Danbuga, who represented Isa-Sabon Birni Federal Constituency. He described the late lawmaker as a patriotic and honorable individual.
