Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of the BUA Group, has generously donated ₦2 billion towards the restoration of the historic Zaria Central Mosque, which tragically collapsed on Friday, August 11, 2023, leading to casualties among worshipers.
The Zaria Central Mosque, standing for over 150 years, holds significant cultural and historical importance within the Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State. This considerable contribution by the BUA Group chairman comes as a vital step in rebuilding the cherished landmark.
The official ceremony of the reconstruction fund took place on Saturday, where Mr. Rabiu emphasized the need for other stakeholders to unite and collaborate in the restoration efforts, highlighting the role it plays in fostering unity and progress within the community.
Mr. Rabiu expressed, “In supporting this endeavor, we are not only preserving a piece of historical significance but also investing in the education and empowerment of the people in the Zazzau Emirate and other parts of Nigeria.” He has gained widespread commendation for the reduction of BUA Cement prices to ₦3500 from the previous ₦5500.
The generous ₦2 billion donation was made on behalf of Abdul Samad Rabiu, his family, and the ASR Africa Initiative, a foundation known for impactful interventions across the continent. This significant contribution marks a step towards “building a foundation for a better and brighter future.”
Aside from this charitable act, the ASR Africa Initiative, founded by Abdul Samad Rabiu, is involved in various initiatives, including investments in security, health, education, and social development.
Notably, the foundation has allocated ₦10 billion in grants, with 2.5 billion Naira each going to four states as part of its scheme. Furthermore, the ASR Africa Initiative commenced the construction of a ₦2.5 billion Oncology Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State on Friday, October 6, 2023.
