The Nigerian Senate has expressed its profound condemnation of the heinous murder of 24-year-old NYSC Corps member, Chalya Grace Silas, by unidentified hoodlums on the 18th of October. This tragic incident unfolded as Chalya Grace was mercilessly attacked and fatally stabbed during her routine morning jog.
Senator Napoleon Bali, who represents Plateau South, passionately addressed this grievous loss. He highlighted the vibrant and promising life that was cut short in Chalya Silas, a young lady from Langtang-North Local Government area of Plateau State. She had actively contributed to community development projects during her service in Kaduna State.
Senator Bali stressed that this untimely tragedy underscores the nation’s security challenges, serving as a stark reminder of the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect the lives and aspirations of all citizens. Vulnerable individuals like NYSC members have been increasingly threatened by various security challenges in recent times.
Consequently, the Senate has passed a resolution, calling upon the Federal Government to work relentlessly to safeguard the lives of its citizens. In a poignant moment of tribute, the lawmakers observed a minute of silence in memory of the departed Chalya Silas.
