In a covert operation conducted on October 24, 2023, by the troops of the 8 Division Garrison in Sokoto state, a meticulously planned offensive was launched in Tukandu Village.
The primary objective was to target a notorious group of terrorists responsible for a series of heinous and atrocious activities in the region. The operation resulted in the elimination of several terrorists, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
During subsequent mop-up operations, the troops successfully recovered a significant cache of weaponry, including three AK-47 Rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 2 Rocket propelled Gun Bombs, and 9 motorcycles.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, commended the troops for their exceptional performance and urged them to maintain their resolute efforts, escalating operations to diminish and restrict the terrorists’ freedom of action.

The statement partly reads; “In a discreet operation against marauding terrorists in Sokoto state, troops of 8 Division Garrison today Tuesday 24 October 2023, launched a carefully planned offensive operation into Tukandu Village, targeting a notorious group of terrorists, responsible for various atrocious and heinous activities in the general area.
The troops’ fierce onslaught terminated many of the terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds. In the following mop up operations, troops recovered three AK-47 Rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 2 Rocket propelled Gun Bombs and 9 motorcycles.
