Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made a historic presentation of the proposed budget for the 2024 fiscal year, totaling a whopping N350 billion, to the Kano State House of Assembly on Friday.
Within this budget, N215,822,194,821.25 billion is designated for capital projects, while N134,428,125,977 billion is allocated for recurrent expenditure. The ambitious budget has been aptly titled the “Budget of Restoration and Transformation.”
Education takes the lead as a significant beneficiary, with N95,389,577,399.00 earmarked for its development. The sector allocations are as follows:
1. Education: N95.3 billion
2. Health: N51.4 billion
3. Works: N40.4 billion
4. Physical Planning: N5.1 billion
5. Transport: N4.8 billion
6. Agriculture: N11 billion
7. Justice: N11 billion
8. Water Resources: N13.4 billion
9. Women and Youths: N8.9 billion
10. Sanitation and Climate Action: N8.9 billion
11. Administration Sector: N45.1 billion
