JUST IN: Governor’s Destiny Hangs by a Thread as Impeachment Approaches

The ongoing crisis within the Rivers State government took a turn for the worse on Monday as reports emerged that the state Assembly has signed an impeachment notice against Governor Siminalaye Fubara.

In a session presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Martins Amaewhule, and attended by a substantial number of members, a drastic move was made as the Leader of the House, Hon Edison Ehie, and those who aligned with the governor were suspended.

The turmoil escalated following an explosion that rocked the Assembly premises on Sunday night, which was believed to be an attempt to prevent lawmakers from accessing the Assembly on Monday.

In a swift and unexpected turn of events, some lawmakers arrived at the House as early as 7 a.m. and promptly initiated a plenary session, culminating in the signing of the impeachment notice against the governor.

Adding to the tension, the entire Moscow Road leading to the Rivers State House of Assembly has been cordoned off by armed policemen.
