A courageous rape survivor in Adamawa State has taken matters into her own hands, literally, as she used a razor blade to defend herself by severing the private parts of a 75-year-old man, Daniel Jaja, who allegedly attempted to rape her.
The harrowing incident unfolded on October 18, 2023, in Mukuvinyi village, situated in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. According to the local police, Jaja invited the 25-year-old victim to his residence, where he forcibly attempted to have unlawful carnal knowledge of her. However, the survivor valiantly resisted.
During this life-threatening encounter, the victim resorted to using a razor blade to protect herself, ultimately preventing the assailant from succeeding. This act of self-defense left Jaja with severe injuries that required immediate medical attention, and he is currently hospitalized.
In response to the incident, the Adamawa State Police Command swiftly apprehended the 75-year-old suspect. SP Suleiman Nguroje, the state’s police spokesperson, issued a statement on the matter. He shared, “The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, who frowns at the ugly incident has directed the officer in charge of Family Support Unit of the command to take over investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.”
The police authorities have urged the public, especially those residing in rural areas, to promptly report information related to gender-based crimes and other criminal activities. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and the importance of reporting such matters to law enforcement.
