Kaduna’s First Lady, Her Excellency Hajja Hafsat Uba Sani, was visibly moved as she donated ₦20 million to support 100 women battling breast cancer during her visit to the Kaduna State Teaching Hospital (Barau Dikko).
This compassionate initiative aims to provide essential financial assistance, medication, and raise awareness about the devastating impact of breast cancer. Additionally, it includes programs to educate people on early breast cancer detection techniques, empowering them to take prompt action.
During her visit, the First Lady reassured the beneficiaries that both the Nigerian Governors Wives Forum and the Kaduna State Government are committed to continuing their support.
Hajia Rabi Salisu, the commissioner of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Development in Kaduna State, expressed her profound gratitude for the selfless dedication of the Governor’s wife. She emphasized that this humanitarian effort is of the highest priority for the well-being of the people.
The commissioner also highlighted the alarming impact of breast cancer due to late detection and emphasized the state’s determination to eradicate this menace among women. The government is fully prepared to provide comprehensive assistance for the community’s development and addressing breast cancer in Kaduna State.
State Health Commissioner Hajiya Umma Kaltume Ahmad lauded the unwavering commitment of Governor’s wife Hajja Hafsat Uba Sani to support cancer patients in the state, applauding her for her benevolence.
Furthermore, it was announced that Kaduna state is on the path to establishing a cancer treatment center, mirroring a 300-bed hospital in Millennium City. The center is currently at 80 percent completion, with some equipment already in place.
“I want to encourage you to continue to pray and remind you that there are many survivors,” she added.
In addition to the financial support, each patient has received a grant of one hundred thousand Naira (₦100,000) to cover medication and other associated expenses.
