In a successful joint operation between the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS), an imminent attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Kano State has been averted. The Nigerian Army revealed this development in an official statement issued by Director Army Public Relations Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu on Friday.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of Friday, November 3, 2023, involved a dawn raid on a suspected terrorist hideout in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State. The primary objective of the operation was to uncover and apprehend suspected Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) believed to be planning a major operation in Kano State.
During the operation, two BHT suspects were swiftly apprehended and are now in custody. In addition, the joint troops of the Nigerian Army and the DSS recovered a significant amount of weaponry and related items, including five AK-47 Rifles, five AK-47 Rifle Magazines, one Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG), five RPG Bombs, six Hand Grenades, five pairs of Desert Camouflage Uniforms, 10 pairs of magazine pouches, and various Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials.
