Zamfara Faces Food Crisis As Over 150 Bakeries Close Down

In a concerning development, the Zamfara state chapter of the Nigeria Association of Master Bakers and Caterers has raised the alarm that more than 150 bakeries within the state have been forced to cease operations.

Alhaji Habibu Abdullahi, the Secretary of the association, shared this distressing news during a press conference held at Fadama Plaza in Gusau. He attributed the closures to the exorbitant costs of essential ingredients required for bread production.

Alhaji Habibu Abdullahi urgently appealed to the federal government to step in and address this crisis by significantly reducing the inflation rates affecting vital commodities across the country.

He emphasized that the recent surge in prices of essential baking ingredients, such as flour, sugar, butter, and others, led to increased bread prices not only in Zamfara but nationwide.

Additionally, Alhaji Habibu Abdullahi Alfijir emphasized the critical need for federal intervention in curbing the continuous price hikes of essential commodities. He highlighted that the price of flour has soared to ₦43,000, while sugar has reached ₦62,500.

He expressed gratitude to loyal customers for their support and understanding and kindly asked for their patience during this challenging period.
